Deartra D. Madkins-Boone Author

I am a writer.

Beginning at the age of 9, I began writing poetry. My love of writing grew from there, from writing poetry to recite at church programs to self-publishing short stories. Soon, I plan to publish a novel. I write every day and believe that everyone is a writer. The philosophy that everyone is a writer led me to become an English professor. So, if you do not think you are a writer, spend a couple of semesters with me, and you will be one.

I write novels, short stories, poetry, essays, devotionals, Bible reading plans, and research papers. I enjoy writing novels most of all. My ultimate dream is to be like Jessica Fletcher from the TV show, Murder She Wrote, be a full-time author who teaches classes at the local university. I have no desire to solve crimes, though.

I write for myself, as a catharsis and an emotional outlet. There have been times when I have cried as I was writing. That is a strange look when you are in the library and tears are rolling down your face.

I write for others to entertain, teach, encourage, motivate, inspire, and help. Three of my spiritual gifts are teaching, encouraging, and helping, which I believe God did on purpose. He knew that I would need those gifts to be a writer.

So, spend a little time at my website and learn a little more about me.
